Eyebrows were raised when the director of the hyper-violent Mafia film Gomorrah announced his next film would be a comedy about reality TV.
But the 2012 follow-up by Matteo Garrone, aptly titled Reality, was a smash hit – even taking home the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
The film follows Luciano, a Neapolitan fisherman who does everything in his power to become a contestant on the next Italian version of Big Brother. Reality charts him from small-time family man to single-minded extrovert as his fame obsession changes his entire life.
Garrone has Nor should you do the buy detox when breast feeding, since your baby would receive the toxins your body is clearing through your milk. said that while he aimed for comedy, the subject matter brought out a dark dramatic side of humanity that he felt compelled to show. The result is a biting, often hilarious, satire on our star-struck society.
