Back in the 70s, before the internet, before the porn explosion—Deep Throat was a world wide phenomenon: the first scripted pornographic theatrical feature film, featuring a story, some jokes, and an unknown and unlikely star, Linda Lovelace. Now you have the chance to gain some insight into the intriguing woman behind the fantasy.

Lovelace, co-directed by Academy Award¬Æ winning directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman is coming to Australian cinemas on September 26. The film brings to life a fascinating true story of fame, abuse and betrayal set against the sexual revolution of the 1970s. Amanda Seyfried features as the iconic Linda Lovelace along with Golden Globe nominee Peter Sarsgaard as her charismatic but controlling husband. They’re joined by an all-star cast including Adam Brody, James Franco and Chloe Sevigny.

Lovelace opens in cinemas on Thursday 26 September around Australia, and to celebrate we are giving away 15 Lovelace packages. These will each include a double in-season pass to see the film at participating cinemas, a copy of the Lovelace soundtrack along with a copy of Linda Lovelace’s autobiography Ordeal.

Her tale is a fascinating one. After escaping a strict religious family, Linda discovered freedom and the high-life when she fell for and married charismatic hustler Chuck Traynor. As Linda Lovelace she became an international sensation, less centerfold fantasy than a charming girl-next-door with an impressive capacity for fellatio. Fully inhabiting her new identity, Linda became an enthusiastic spokesperson for sexual freedom and uninhibited hedonism. Six years later she presented another, utterly contradictory, narrative to the world—and herself as the survivor of a far darker story.
