In the near future, Japan is near a state of collapse. To scare the citizens back into order, the government enacts the Battle Royale Act which dictates that each year a randomly selected class of school children will be chosen for a cruel survival game. Taken to a deserted island, the chosen class of 43 students is handed weapons and given three days for a fight to the death with only one winner.
Battle Royale II: Requiem – Director’s Cut (Japan, 2003) – Wednesday 31 October 9.30pm
Three years after the events of the original Battle Royale, the survivor Shuya Nanahara is now an internationally-known terrorist who leads a guerrilla group called the Wild Seven that are determined to bring down the government. In response, a new Battle Royale Act is implemented, and a class of 42 students is sent to the Wild Seven’s island stronghold where the task is to kill Nanahara in three days or die.
