David Lynch – the co-creator of the original cult 1990s television series Twin Peaks – has confirmed that he will no longer be directing the sequel.
Lynch tweeted that he was leaving the project after over a year of negotiations, as Showtime would not be providing enough money to film the script in the way he felt in needed to be done. He has confirmed that the sequel will continue without him.
David Lynch fans need not fear though, as you can still get your fix of the auteur this April as WM Focus On: David Lynch presents five of his renowned titles. On Thursday 16 April, be sure not to miss Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, the prequel to Lynch’s hit television series. The film follows the disappearance of a a young FBI agent that may be related to the future murder of Laura Palmer. Other films featured across the week include Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Eraserhead and Lost Highway.
