Every Thursday night in April, World Movies presents classic war feature films to commemorate the ANZAC’s.

Thursday 7 April 8.30pm
Downfall (Germany, 2004)
The insightful and shattering story that journals the last days of Hitler’s life spent in a bunker beneath Berlin awaiting his demise. Nominated for Best Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2005.

Thursday 14 April 8.30pm
Das Boot (Germany, 1981)
Nominated for six Oscars, Das Boot is still regarded as one of the greatest war films ever made for its claustrophobic exploration of life on a German U-Boat.

Life Is Beautiful (Italy, 1997)
Winner of three Oscars and nominated for Palme d’Or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival, Roberto Benigni directs and stars in the tale of a father who uses humour to shield his son from horrors in a Nazi death camp.

Thursday 28 April 8.30pm
Stalingrad (Germany, 1993)
A visceral illustration of Hitler’s miscalculated 1942 invasion of Russia which ultimately lost him the war. Winner of three Bavarian Film Awards.
