The Possible Worlds Canadian Film Festival kicks off this August in Sydney bringing twenty new features from one of the world’s most diverse and entertaining cultures. From Oscar-nominated Monsieur Lazhar through to controversial documentary Pink Ribbons Inc., these Canadian films will premiere in Australia from August 13 – 19.
Opening with French-Canadian comedy Starbuck (about a 42 year old whose generous sperm donation lands him with 533 children) and closing seven days later with Silver Bear-winning drama War Witch, the festival has a packed program of documentaries, comedies, indie dramas, thrillers, French-language and queer cinema.
‚ÄúCanadian cinema is incredibly hot right now,‚Äù Festival Director Mathieu Ravier says, ‚Äúand we’d like to invite everyone to discover why, by taking a chance on a film or two at the Festival. Many screenings will include a free welcome drink on arrival, while others will feature Q&As, live performances, video games and DJs – truly something for everyone!‚Äù
