The epic historical action movie Dragon Blade is set to become one of the most expensive Chinese-language films ever made. Directed by Daniel Lee of Three Kingdoms and White Vengeance fame, it is inspired by a missing legion of Roman soldiers that allegedly travelled into China over 2000 years ago.

John Cusack and Adrien Brody will both star as Roman soldiers – Cusack as Lucius, a Roman general and Brody as the villainous emperor Tiberius. Jackie Chan will star as the Chinese Commander of the Protectorate of the Western Regions. His character ultimately finds an ally in Lucius during his quest to protect China’s borders against the power-hungry Tiberius.

‚ÄúI’m really excited to be in a movie with two of the most respected actors working today,‚Äù said Chan when discussing the recent announcement at the Shanghai Film Festival. ‚ÄúIt gives me confidence that the decade we spent researching and developing the script has produced something of a world-class standard.‚Äù

The international cast will also include South Korea’s Choi Si-won, member of the K-pop band Super Junior.

The film’s release date is scheduled for February 19, 2015 to coincide with the Lunar New Year. Here at World Movies we’re intrigued to see how this diverse cast and production team will translate this story to screen.
