Marking the first English-language film by acclaimed Director Lukas Moodysson, this is a story of family torn apart by the modern world. Michelle Williams and Gael Garcia Bernal star as Ellen and Leo, a wealthy New York couple whose dysfunctional family includes seven-year-old daughter Jackie.
Leo seeks an escape from the boredom of his job, and travels to Thailand with a shifty associate to try and radically change his life. Meanwhile Ellen and Jackie notice a rapid change in the relationship with their live-in nanny, whose family in the Phillipines struggles to deal with her absence. This moving study of the modern family illustrates how one peron’s action can have irreversible effects on the people around them.
