Thirteen Assassins (Japan, 2010) – Friday 30 November 9.30pm
In 1844, the tyrannous Lord Naritsugu is rising to power in Japan to the dismay of the people. Secret plans begin to be laid to end his reign and his life, and veteran samurai Shinzaemon Shimada (Kōji Yakusho from Memoirs of a Geisha, Babel) is charged with assassinating the corrupt leader. He puts together a team of 13 assassins who will risk their lives for the future of Japan. Facing danger and impossible odds, the assassins set a trap for Lord Naritsugu in a remote village but must first confront the samurai army determined to protect him.
