As the country prepares for the most fabulous event on the LGBTQI calendar, World Movies brings you two films that celebrate the joys of queer sexuality. Discover the depths of dangerous affairs and the potency of casual encounters in Stranger by the Lake, while a hotel room in the centre of Rome serves as the setting for two young and recently acquainted women to have a physical adventure that touches their very souls in Room in Rome.

Friday 28 February 9.30pm – Stranger by the Lake Australian Television Premiere
Summertime in France. At a cruising spot for men, tucked away on the shores of a lake, Franck falls for Michel, but Michel has a regular lover. When Franck witnesses Michel killing his lover, he is shocked, but nonetheless his passion for this dangerous man overrides any sense of personal safety, and the two men begin an affair. Whilst waiting for Michel to arrive each day, Franck befriends Henri, an older man, who doesn’t fit in with the scene. Their friendship is not based on sex, but on conversation and a shared observation of their world and situation. As Franck and Michel’s liaisons continue with reckless abandonment, a policeman arrives at the lake as the body of Michel’s murdered lover has been discovered…

Director Julio Medem’s beautifully-crafted erotic drama takes place within a Rome hotel room where two recently acquainted women embark on a sexual adventure. When Alba (Elena Anaya) seduces Natasha (Natasha Yarovenko) in a bar, the two women agree to limit their passionate affair to a one-night encounter. However, as they begin to slowly reveal their true selves to each other, their lust is met with deeper emotions that open the door for what evolves into a poignant character study.
