Professional dancer Pierre (Romain Duris) is bound to his Paris apartment as he awaits a heart transplant. Pierre’s no-nonsense sister, Elise (Juliette Binoche), moves in to care for him, and he passes the time sitting on his balcony, observing life on the street below. Pierre develops a crush on a beautiful young student (Melanie Laurent) who he spies from his window, but we soon learn that she is engaged in an affair with a depressed professor in the midst of a mid-life crisis.
