On Sunday 5 May, hundreds of unwitting World Movies Secret Cinema guests were thrown into a mystery experience that took them on a journey across two locations in Melbourne, bringing the acclaimed film Holy Motors to life with food, performances, activities and more.
On the day, attendees were sent a final SMS clue, telling them to meet in Banana Alley by the Yarra River, and to look for the accordion. Once there, the crowd were lead underneath the railway lines into the long, domed tunnels of the eclectic bar Platform 1.
On entry each guest was given a mysterious black folder with a set of various ‚Äòappointments’ they needed to complete throughout the night. These included transforming themselves with makeup and costumes, watching intriguing performances and enjoying delicious French cuisine.
As the night went on, the surprised guests were taken in coaches and limousines to Hangar 5 at Essendon airport. After partying their way into the hangar, guests had their chance to win $1,000 by pulling out their best poses inside a limousine as part of our ‚ÄòBackseat Booth’ competition. Check out some of the photos on the World Movies Facebook page, we’ll be announcing the winner next week!
After hours of speculation and fun, the night finished with a screening of the critically acclaimed French film Holy Motors.
World Movies will screen the Australian Television Premiere of Holy Motors this Thursday 9th May at 8.30pm. Read more…
